Sculpted Enchanters are a good example of the Mystery and Magic of fused glass and represent a great deal of experimentation with various designs and firing schedules. After making mostly flat, slumped pieces my aspiration was to create a more dramatic three dimensional piece. The mystery was how to control the effect of gravity on the heated glass. Temperature control resulted in the magical creation of a graceful, unusual piece of art.
Strips of glass are arranged in a specific pattern and fused flat. The resulting piece is then draped over a stainless steel mold. Gravity and heat create the graceful flowing sense of movement, and precise control of the firing schedule captures the moment.
Gravity formed the resulting sculpture which seems to retain the pulse of its making.
